Asymmetric Situation

Asymmetric, or asymmetry, is more of one, less of the other: an imbalance.

An asymmetric situation is when the situation or choices are asymmetric. The outcome on one side weights heavier than the outcome on the other.

An example of an asymmetric situation is the Fed activities in recent years. The Fed has few tools to continue to boost the economy, but plenty of things they may do that could slow it down.
